E-news Number 17 for project teams and all those interested in Sustainable Farming in New Zealand

Dear all                          He mihi nui ki a koutou

Sustainable Farming Fund workshops: "Understanding the SFF" and "Communicating about your project"

MAF SFF invests $9.5 million per year in projects that support applied research and extension for New Zealand's primary sector. Grants are available to "communities of interest" to solve problems and take up opportunities that arise from the needs of farmers, growers or foresters.

SFF is running a series of free workshops that are open to all:

Morning session: 10:00 - 12:00 "Understanding the SFF"

This is an introduction and overview session for new SFF project teams that have received funding in 2007, as well as groups wanting to apply in next year's funding round starting in February 2008. It aims to:

  • Help you understand how the SFF works;
  • Provide advice on clear writing applications and milestones;
  • Introduce you to SFF's progress and financial reporting requirements; and
  • Offer tips on how to run a successful project.

Afternoon session: 12:45 - 4:00 Workshop: "Communicating about your project"

This free workshop is open to all current and new SFF project teams. Others are welcome but please register as spaces are limited.

"Get the best out of your SFF project by developing an effective, integrated communications approach!"

Annie Perkins of Groundwork Associates will be running an interactive workshop that will cover:

  • Building a basic communications plan
  • Branding
  • Dealing with media
  • Experiential learning
