Context of this Unit - Teacher Notes

  • Conservation Week 2005 stresses the concept that everything in our environment is connected, eg

- all living things depend upon each other - our actions and choices affect the health of our environment - managing environmental resources wisely ensures the balance of nature and long term environmental health of New Zealand - understanding the variety of ecosystems that support life - taking regular and positive action to improve our environment and solve environmental problems.

  • As agriculture plays such an important part in New Zealand’s economic well-being, students will investigate the meaning of sustainability and what choices people working in agriculture are making to ensure that our environment stays healthy.
