Memorandum of an assignment made and entered into this 29th day of December in the year of our Lord 1827 Witnesseth that Kivie Kivie a Chief on Kororadika in New Zealand fir a consideration already received doth make over and confirm to John Johnston now residing at Kororadika his heirs and assigns for ever a certain portion of land situated at Kororadika as aforesaid and bounded in manner following that is to say in length along the Beach at low water mark in a north and south direction (as measured by a line) of one hundred and sixty eight feet in length and drawn from a certain Jager post and passing the end of a certain saw pit to the low water mark for a distance of one hundred and eighty (180) feet: and the said land is also bounded in an east and west direction by a line drawn at right angles from the said low water mark and extending up the hill for a distance of six hundred feet: and the said land is further Bounded by the lands on the South side Mai Anga commonly called King Charley, and on this North by the lands of Wareumu commonly called King George; And the consideration, mentioned above as having been received by the said Kivie Kivie and for which he grants the above mentioned land is noted on the other side at the foot of this Agreement. The purchase of this land from the Natives and its resale and transfer by the original purchaser John Johnston to Gilbert Mair, and again from the said Gilbert Mair to Benjamin Evans Turner, having been proved in Claim No. 232; And the said Benjamin Evans Turner having admitted and sworn to his resale and transfer of this land to the Claimant (Bishop Pompallier): The Commissioner therefore respectfully recommends that a Grant for the above-described land should be issued to the Right Rev. the Bishop Pompallier for the Catholic Mission, his heirs and assigns for ever.
