MANAGEMENT

Actions or responses taken during the snows varied according to the type of country being farmed. A multitude of different approaches and actions were taken. The best actions most frequently mentioned included the feeding of supplements, use of helicopters, use of dozers on the hill/downs and snowploughs on the plains to clear tracks and grass.

Some actions which would not be repeated included waiting for the snow to thaw, spending excessive time on small mobs/sick sheep, reviving sleepy sickness ewes and growing winter feed at too high an altitude.
