PERSONAL FACTORS

Watching their livestock die caused extreme stress for many farmers and had a greater impact than financial considerations. Farmers used the following methods to cope with stress:

  • Talking with neighbours/friends
  • Making a start/immediate action
  • Working in with others/mutual support
  • Having a whisky!
