- In the five years prior to the end of 2003, what, if any, major changes did you make to what you farmed and how you farmed?

- What are the ages of these family members?
- How many employees (if any) live on the property?
- How many of your family or employees are involved in voluntary services in the local community (e.g. church, volunteer ambulance, fire service etc.)?
- For how many years have generations of your family lived on this farm?
- Had you or any other members of your family any prior experience or memories of any adverse event before that of February, 2004? (Yes/No)

- Do you have a soil conservation plan for your farm?
- Prior to the rain/flood event of February, 2004, what (if any) initiatives had you taken to protect your land and property against any adverse event?
- What initiatives did you have in place prior to January 2004 to protect your family and home in anticipation of an adverse event?
- With respect to your family and resident employees, did you have any pre-determined evacuation plans?
- Did you have any specific plans to evacuate/move your livestock to safety?
- Prior to February 2004, what sources of information were you aware of or had you used as a basis to plan against an adverse event?

- What community support did you receive, to cope with damage/loss of home, farm buildings and equipment?
- Who appeared first on the scene to help after this damage/loss of home, farm buildings and equipment, and was this as you would have expected?
