Wrightson Drought Recovery Package
This publication was originally prepared and distributed by Wrightson Ltd as part of a Drought Recovery initiative for Marlborough. We are now distributing it throughout the drought-affected areas on the east coasts of the North Island and South Island.
As part of the rural community, Wrightson understands the effect of a drought on a farming business and family. In the case of the severe drought in Marlborough in 1998, Wrightson funded a drought recovery package that incorporated:
- Supply of substantial volumes of proprietary pasture seed at wholesale prices
- Donation of seed to Federated Farmers along with Agriculture New Zealand consultancy advice on its use
- Support for an MRDC field day
- Technical advice to farmers on a full range of drought recovery options.
This "Drought Recovery Strategies" book provides the basic information to help farmers evaluate options and make decisions. Further information is available from a Wrightson representative or from Agriculture New Zealand offices listed on the back cover.
