Developing measures and evaluation methods to better assess our contribution to the outcomes
This SOI includes state indicators and impact measures that allow MAF to evaluate its contribution to the outcomes and intermediate outcomes over time. The state indicators describe the “starting point” that MAF is addressing, and the impact measures will allow us to assess in future how well we are doing in improving this state or starting point. We expect that the state indicators and impact measures will evolve over time as we apply them to improving our outcome focus and performance delivery. In addition to these higher level indicators and measures of progress, MAF has also reviewed its output class descriptions to better align these with its intermediate outcomes, and has also developed new output class measures. This work should assist in better connecting MAF’s strategic planning and its business group work programmes.
Over the next year MAF will undertake a review of the output class structure for each of the three votes we administer – Vote Agriculture and Forestry, Vote Biosecurity (Agriculture and Forestry) and Vote Food Safety. This work is aimed at providing greater alignment between the outcomes and intermediate outcomes and the associated outputs. This work is timed to enable initial changes in the 2005/06 year.
