Appointments
Justice Young has been appointed as the President of the Court of Appeal.
Justice Noel Anderson has been appointed a Supreme Court Judge.
Career diplomat Malcolm McGoun has been appointed as High Commissioner to South Africa.
Major General Jerry Mateparae will be the new Chief of the NZ Defence Force, and will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. Major General Lou Gardiner has been appointed as Chief of Army, and Air Commodore Graham Lintott as Chief of Air Force, at the rank of Air Vice Marshal. Rear Admiral David Ledson has had his term as Chief of Navy extended to 30 April 2009.
Jane Diplock has been reappointed as Chair of the NZ Securities Commission for a second term through to 2011.
The National Animal Ethics Advisory Committee recently elected Dr Kathy Parton as its Deputy Chairperson for 2006 and the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee re-elected Dr Selwyn Dobbinson as its Deputy Chairperson for 2006.
The following appointments to the Board of Trustees of the Correspondence School: Patricia McKelvey has been appointed as a new chair of the board, and Roger Drummond as a new board member; and four current board members (Russell Ballard, Claire Hague, Polly Schaverien, Roger Taylor and former chair, Ian McKinnon) have been re-appointed for a further term.
Andrew Fox is the new Farmer Representative Director for the Northern South Island electoral district of Meat & Wool NZ.
Warren Bell and Alistair Sutherland are new appointments, and Thayne Green and Jim Wakefield have been reappointed, to the governing body of the NZ Racing Board.
