Winners: Inaugural RWNZ Achievement Award
Women who have played an outstanding role working for their rural communities have been honoured with a new Achievement Award established to mark the 80th anniversary of Rural Women NZ (RWNZ). Seven regional winners have now been announced.
They are:
- Lorna Anderson of Otautau, Southland;
- Amy Jones of Fairlie, Canterbury;
- Joyce Wyllie of Collingwood, Golden Bay;
- Jocelyn Fannin, Taihape;
- Ngaire Ericksen, Tauranga;
- June Haultain, Hamilton; and
- Rene Martin, Great Barrier Island.
The Achievement Awards will be presented by the Governor General at Government House, Wellington, on 15 March 2006. Meanwhile the women are being honoured in their own communities with a variety of regional events.
