IMPLEMENTATION

The actions detailed in this strategy require national leadership and co-ordination by the Biosecurity Standards Team. The development of a coherent work programme which recognises the goals and actions articulated in this strategy will be the first step in this process. This programme, while recognising a multi-year time frame, will of necessity focus on the next two years. Realistic objectives, given the available resources, will be measured against this strategy.

A recurring theme evident in the Biosecurity Standards Team Strategy is that of consultation and collaboration. This theme is fundamental to the philosophy of the Team and its commitment to a co-operative approach in the implementation of biosecurity initiatives.

The short term agenda of the Biosecurity Standards Team within the merger process of forestry and agriculture is advocacy of forestry biosecurity interests and integration into the new organisation.

It is hoped this strategy will provide an insight into the goals and actions which underpin the Biosecurity Standards Team’s work programme.
